Catfishing

Members Only

I have been messaged and had chats with a few sweet and thoughtful people.  BUT, one of the shows I have watched from episode one, and series one - right up until the most recent was CATFISH.

Is there any way, a person knows for sure with whom they are chatting, messaging.

Not only that BUT what does a person get from catfishing?  Is it a thrill to see who will be snared in their fantasy world?  Is it a means, to attempt to acquire finances (money/goods)?  I just fail to see why anyone would want to entrap another person, with lies and deceit - just what is gained?  It is a waste of time.  Time is too precious to play silly bugger games with.

Have you been CATFISHED?  How did you determine you were being CATFISHED?  What did you do?

I've been on this website for a week and I'm pretty sure that all three guys who messaged me were fake. Nice profiles but words in messages did not match up. Are there real people out there?

I have only been on this site for a week. I was on a dating site some years ago and someone expressed an interest in me. He said he lived in another city not far from me, a couple of hours by car. I suggested we meet somewhere in between. All of a sudden he was in another country on the west coast of Africa. He had "inherited" some property in that country worth a fortune. He couldn't take over the property because he had to pay "back taxes" on it. He also asked me for money. I discontinued our texting conversations at that point.

It doesn't make things easy. I am sure there is some one out there, who will compliment me in life. BUT, definitely, need to step carefully. The old adage, buyer beware, really applies here. Best of luck!

Yes, I have been on this website for about a month now and I started chatting with a woman who made the initial advance(s) and controlled the conversations we had on the phone. That is, our phone calls were always short and she would always maneuver to keep the calls short. This did not allow me to ask pertinent questions. I noticed she from the beginning would call me "baby" and "honey" straight away and that her sister said we made a good couple. Our telephone conversations lasted for about two weeks until one day she called me earlier than usual to say that she had made a big mistake with an order and her client was not going to make the purchase and this put her in a financial dilemma. She asked me for several thousand dollars to help her out. I am not the sharpest pencil in the box but then again, I am not a complete fool either. I declined to help her and the calls since then have ended because she has not called back. This is not a good way to get started on this website (for me).
