Blog title: Girl 56
Blog description:This blog is about the adventures of Girl 56.  She is an artist. She loves adventure. You have to be on your toes and have your ears and eyes open to hang with Girl 56. She likes fast cars, running, hashing, dancing, and rock music. She loves her red Cowgirl Boots and likes to wear them with cute sun dresses--preferably black and white. In fact, she has proclaimed the summer of 2010 as "The Summer of Black and Whit...

SO LONG!!!
381 Views          06/06/10
Well, it's been great but this will be my last blog and the last time that I will appear on this site. I'm off to a an extended research project that has already taken me to some pretty interesting places. I've met some really interesting people.
My work propels me. It fulfills my life. And, although I would love to meet someone special to spend some beautiful time with, I have come to realize that perhaps that may not happen anytime soon (especially with my schedule) and I am really cool with that.
Anyway, to those of you who pursue love with gusto (and there are a lot of you out there) I say go for it. Romance knows no age. If you believe that you will find someone special, then you will. But don't forget that it is inner strength that compels us forward. More often than not, that strength is divine.
Be careful. Be safe. Be happy!
Best,

Let's Talk About Scammers
417 Views          05/12/10
There is a section on this website that all of you should check out.  It's about online dating and safety. I was just contacted by a so called "member" and immediately knew that he was a scammer.  There is a whole cache of them on the internet.
Here's the scoop.  These guys generally operate out of Nigeria but can come from anywhere. Their English is usually bad. They use phrases like "am ready to do so and so" rather than I am. Their spelling is atrocious ("are" is spelled "re"). They generally try to get you off the site and on to Yahoo Messenger.  Not a good idea. It's better to stay on the site you are paying for (but if you do Yahoo Messenger or some of the other popular sites, know that you can create an "alias" and hide your profile. Yes you will have to read the instructions).
Here's more:  They generally have some tragedy in their lives. The last guy that contacted me was divorced and had a daughter who had recently died. He was "just getting over the tragedy." I told him that his situation was "interesting" rather than offer sympathy.
They also like to feel you out to see if you are lonely. Questions like "do you live alone?" Or "You must be lonely by yourself." Crap. Most of us want someone special in our lives or we wouldn't pay to be on the site on the first place.
Once you start to converse, the pace quickens. They come up with another grand tragedy that requires travel overseas.  One guy (independent oil contractor) told me that he had to take his son with him to Nigeria (his wife died in a car accident) because he was homeschooling him. Then he got stuck in Nigeria and needed to bring the kid back to live with me. Then he didn't have enough money for his "oil contract" to go through. He was short just $500.00. Excuse me?
"HELL NO!!!," was my answer.  Never give out any information about your finances. EVER!!! Or at least until you've met the person, claimed the chemistry, and on your way to a good healthy relationship.
I could go on an on about scammers.  I really hate them and I hate that they have infiltrated social dating sites. However, I do believe that you can still form special relationships online (and they are not all about finding a date and sex). You just have to be careful and not wear your heart on your sleeve. Ask good questions and NEVER EVER GIVE OUT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR FINANCES.
What's really important is that you understand that scammers are in the business of making money. And they will happily take yours to their bank.
Be safe!

You got to Move It, Move it!!
148 Views          05/08/10
I have never been afraid of exercise.  In fact, it is a part of my daily routine.  Whether I am working in the garden, hashing (running through the woods), spending an hour at the gym, shooting hoops (I don't do this very often), I try to move. Of course, there are more interesting forms of getting a workout that I won't mention here but let's suffice to say that we are all grown and you know what I mean. I belong to a running club and we have great fun. It's a great way to make new friends and as we all know, working out keeps us youthful.
